What Can You Do?

Simple changes in your home can make big changes in
your safety. Removing throw rugs, having proper
lighting, and installing grab bars in the bathroom all help to prevent falls.

Where Can You Find More Ideas?

You can find checklists for what you can do to improve the safety in each room of your house by logging onto www.aarp.org, clicking on the top link to “Family, Home & Legal,” and then clicking on the particular room.

Physical or occupational therapists can also perform home
assessments and guide you through what changes need to
be made.
